About

Accounting experience grounded in judgment, clarity, and accountability

As a California CPA, I have experience across corporate accounting, financial reporting, treasury, internal controls, audit support, and process improvement. Throughout my career, I have worked in environments where reliable accounting depended not only on technical knowledge, but also on thoughtful review, clear documentation, strong processes, and the judgment to recognize when something did not make sense.

My work has spanned public and private organizations in real estate, housing, life sciences, corporate services, and creative business environments. Across those settings, I have supported financial reporting, reconciliations, cash operations, accounting continuity, audit readiness, and cross-functional finance initiatives.

Approach

How I approach the work

I believe strong accounting is built through a combination of technical accuracy, disciplined processes, and professional judgment. A reconciliation is not complete simply because the numbers balance. A report is not reliable simply because it was produced on time. The underlying information must be complete, understandable, reviewable, and supported by a process that others can follow.

I am naturally drawn to work that brings structure to complexity. That may involve rebuilding a process after turnover, improving documentation, investigating an unexpected variance, strengthening a review control, or helping ensure that financial information is useful to the people making decisions.

Clarity

Financial information should be understandable and decision-useful.

Accountability

Processes should make ownership, review, and escalation clear.

Continuity

Important accounting knowledge should not reside with only one person.

Professional Judgment

Technology and procedures support decisions, but they do not eliminate thoughtful human review.

Development

Deliberate professional development

Earning my California CPA license marked an important professional milestone, but I view licensure as a foundation rather than an endpoint. I have continued strengthening my knowledge through focused education in internal controls, lease accounting, revenue recognition, advanced Excel, and artificial intelligence in accounting and finance.

This development reflects the direction in which the profession is moving. Accountants are increasingly expected to understand not only financial reporting requirements, but also systems, data quality, controls, automation, governance, and the risks created when technology is adopted without sufficient oversight.

AI & Finance

Why I am exploring AI in accounting and finance

My interest in artificial intelligence grew from a practical accounting question: how can finance professionals use increasingly capable technology without weakening the judgment, evidence, controls, and accountability that make financial information trustworthy?

AI can help professionals analyze information, identify patterns, improve workflows, and reduce repetitive work. But it can also create new risks when outputs are accepted without sufficient review, source information is unreliable, responsibilities are unclear, or decisions cannot be adequately explained and documented.

I believe accountants are especially well positioned to contribute to this conversation. The principles already embedded in accounting and internal controls - evidence, completeness, review, documentation, risk assessment, and accountability - provide a useful foundation for evaluating AI-enabled work.
